Aebailey is a lifestyle blog written by me, Ashley (Erin) Bailey. Born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and having spent much of my life living in Colorado, the West and mountains pump through my blood, mixed with a bit of the Midwest corn fields and silos, a touch of West Coast sunshine, a hint of the New England charm, rocky coast and sea salt, and a dash of L.A., New York sprinkled with a motley of other metropolitan cities, quaint towns, and tiny villages in between - I'm a country gal and have found my way back to my roots - currently residing along the Front Range in Colorado.
Nature grounds me. It is deeply rooted within my soul - when I am not able to get out into nature as often as I would like to - I find solace within the naturalistic part of myself. I value living a zen existence and find pleasure in simplicity. Fresh coffee. Sudden rain. Sunshine. Warmth. Hiking. Yoga. Music. Friendships. Food.
I adore my family. Spending time with them fills my soul like nothing else in this world and have six beautiful nephews. I'm a nostalgic Cancer through-and-through and as a Life Path 5, I chase freedom as if it were a 7th sense. I search for meaning and crave depth.
I am a writer - from poetry, to fiction novels, to autobiographical stories, to songs, to blogging, writing is just as much a part of my life as breath.
I have continuous and ever evolving soundtrack that accompanies me and my life. It's quite rare to find me without my music. Simon & Garfunkel and Crosby, Stills & Nash speak to my in a way that no other music does.... and then there is Janis... and Jimi...and The Lizard King, and Zeppelin.... and Floyd...Oh and Elton John, Billy Joel, Tom Petty, Van Morrison, Joe Cocker, SRV, Marley, Cat Stevens, Fleetwood, Clapton... and then the jams of the 80s with Madonna, Whitesnake, Poison, Metallica, Guns N' Roses, The Police, MJ, Aerosmith, Blondie.... the 90s heavy with Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Red Hot Chili Peppers, STP, Everlast, The Cranberries, Dave Matthews Band... Oh the early 2000s with Eminem, Atmosphere, Silver Chair, Alanis Morrisette, Howie Day, John Mayer... the next decade of The Black Keys, Adele, Lana Del Rey, Lorde, Ed Sheeran, John Legend, Ellie Goulding, Amos Lee... and you may also find me jamin' to some good ole' country ... Garth Brooks, Kenney Chesney, George Strait, Alan Jackson, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Tim McGraw, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Randy Rodgers Band, Ryan Bingham, Alison Krauss, Carrie Underwood, Dierks Bentley, Jamey Johnson, Chris Stapleton, or even some bluegrass.. Leftover Salmon, Yonder Mountain String Band... or straight up Blues like Taj Mahal, Muddy Waters, B.B. King...I'm also a wildly sensitive romantic, Chris Isaak, John Hiatt, Sade, Whitney, Michael Bolton... And my go-to ultimate chill music is some Buddha Bar or other house lounge beats... and my peaceful happy music? Xavier Rudd. Writing... or finding balance after a long day... give my some classical... Bach, Beethoven, Mozart... Cooking? I'll often put on my soul soothing relaxing classic rock playlist or the gentle yet upbeat Italian-French singer & songwriter, Carla Bruni.
I <3 Music. Of all kinds... for all moods... on all different occasions.
I became interested in health at young age. In my pre-teen years, my father started to transition our family to a healthier lifestyle - and being the 90s, the age or fear the fat - this meant low fat, low sugar, and fat-free cooking. What we ate and considered health foods changed and evolved with the decades but the shift struck something inside me. What we eat matters. What we eat has impact on mental and physical wellbeing. We (my siblings and I) were always quite active when we were young. Walking and hiking was just as much part of our life as brushing our teeth - but it wasn't until after I graduated high school that I really got into working out and finding different ways to move and exercise my body. I strive to live healthfully and balanced in the many facets of life.
Business & Tech
I have a growing fondness for the tech industry and business operations. The seed may have been planted by simply being around my father. An entrepreneur and business man specializing in due diligence and operations. Of course, I admired him in many other ways, I always admired his drive, work ethic, and success. To this he would likely say: "I was in the right place at the right time..." or, "I did what I had to do for my family." I got my start in the software industry straight out of college at a product and portfolio management company and instantly fell in love with tech, startups, and learning about the way companies work.
Yet another love of mine that was instilled in me at a very young age. I am very fortunate to have been able to experience travel while growing up - and I will forever yearn for new places, new scenery, new cultures, new experiences, new learnings, and new teachings. Who gets to say things like: "When we use to go to Hawaii every year..." or, "When I flew to L.A. on a private jet..." or, "When I learned to surf in Australia..." or, "When I had a bad hair day at Stonehenge..." or, "When I asked for some loo (bathroom) in France instead of eau (water)..." or, "When my brother jumped for joy at the nice plush robes and slippers in his room at the St. Regis in N.Y.C..." or, "When I meditate along the cliffs in Maine," or, "When I was walking across the Sand Dunes to Lake Superior in Northern Michigan." Traveling has helped shape who I am. And, not only have I traveled to many different places, I have had the opportunity to live in many different places all over the U.S. Wyoming, Colorado, California, Missouri, Wisconsin, Maine, Pennsylvania, Florida, New York... Traveler ... could very well be my other alternate middle name and I look forward to the next trip.
